"Deadliest Catch," the reality series about crab fishermen who sail Alaska's Bering Sea, won four awards, including outstanding reality programming.
The winning episode was "Redemption Day," which, as a Discovery press release says, "dealt with the death of larger-than-life Captain Phil Harris." Harris suffered a stroke on Jan. 29, 2010, and the series "documented his battle through surgery and treatment, and ultimately his passing ten days later" on February 9.
(This past season dealt with some of the fallout from Captain Phil's death, including friction between Harris' sons, and Seaside native Derrick Ray.)
Here's a clip from the winning episode:
Other winners included Justin Timberlake, who was honored twice, once for guest-hosting "Saturday Night Live," and for co-writing lyrics to the song he sang in his monologue. As Time reports, Timberlake wasn't present to accept his award:? "'Justin Timberlake really wanted to be here but we said 'no, they want to see the writers,'" SNL head writer Seth Myers told the audience."
