Dozens of Air Canada workers at Vancouver International Airport staged what they called a "mass smoke break" outside the domestic air terminal on Friday morning
The workers are not blocking any traffic and caused no impact on YVR's operation according to airport officials and a union spokesperson was expected to arrive shortly to address the employees.
Air Canada spokeswoman Angela Ma advised passengers to check the status of their flights before heading to the airport.
"We are working with the union right now to get employees back to work. As always, we recommend customers to check the status of their flight before going to the airport and we have put in place a rebooking policy," said Ma.
Air Canada Operations Manager Doug Martin addressed the group, asking them to return to their jobs. Martin told them the walkout was illegal, since the airline obtained an injunction against wildcat strikes in Toronto earlier today.
