After the ?Food Challenges? post I got some great e-mail about the next step. The intention of NOT having a food challenge was to stress the importance of not going ?on and off? something but finding a way to eat that you can stick to. A mediocre diet that you can follow well will yield far greater results than a ?great? diet that you blow every other day. I hear people talk about going ?Paleo? and yet they continue to eat non-organic produce, dairy and factory raised meat and poultry that is LOADED with grains! I certainly can not avoid corn fed beef, but it ain?t Paleo.
So you have eaten REALLY clean for 30 days?Whole30 is a great place to get this info. Now what?
PROTEIN! You NEED Protein and lots of it! There are a ton of formulas, but to keep it simple start with 1 gram of protein for every pound of lean body mass. If you don?t know lean mass eat 1 gram for every pound of your ideal weight (ie: if you are a chubby 160lbs eat 140-145g of protein). If you are trying to drop fat you can start with .7x body weight and this is a MINIMUM! Eat this every day!
VEGETABLES! Eat a vegetable every time you eat. Something that grew in the earth 4-5x a day. you will feel 100% better and you will be full and drop fat.
WATER! Almost no one drinks enough. Drink water all day long and as much as you can. Half of your body weight in ounces is a good rule of thumb.
What?s next? Start here and get this going consistently for 30-45 days and you almost won?t have to do anything else. There are tweaks to be made, but they will often be about your specific needs. It isn?t about ?dropping weight? it is about becoming fitter and healthier!
Strongman Andy Deck will be holding a seminar at Live Long on May 5th! More to come
