Compare Your Dental Payment History and Your Insurance Claim to Ensure You're Not Getting Double-Charged [Dentists]

Compare Your Dental Payment History and Your Insurance Claim to Ensure You're Not Getting Double-ChargedKeeping track of your insurance payouts can be difficult as it is, but Reddit user SpazMcMan points out an interesting facet of dental insurance you might not have considered: you may have unused credit from your insurance company if you pay part of your bill up front.

The basics are common with some insurance companies, here's how SpazMcMan explains it:

The insurance company pays based on a statement of work submitted by the dentist, and they may or may not know what you already paid, which is why they send you the claim information after it is paid. In case of an overpayment, the dentist is supposed to credit your account or give you a refund, but the point is the process isn't always automatic. If you know a dentist that does this, that's great. My point isn't that all dentists are crooked?my point is, it's your job to double check.

If you go to a dentist where you're doing co-pays at the time of service, that payment may not get communicated back to the insurance company. In effect, you may have a bit of credit on your account that nobody is noticing so it's good to compare the bill you get from your dentist at the time of service and the claim form you get later from your insurance company to make sure there was no overpayment. If there was an overpayment, you should call your dentist to check and make sure they have that information on file. Photo by Herry Lawford.

Rumor: Apple Will Debut *Two* iPads Next Month, Retina Displays In Tow

Screen shot 2011-12-29 at 9.04.42 AMThe Apple rumor mill never takes a break, even during the holidays. In the past months we've heard two very specific allegations concerning the iPad — both out of Digitimes — focused on a smaller sized Apple tab at 8.75 inches and a release date of early 2012. As Devin explained so well, the notion of a smaller iPad out of Cupertino is a bit hard to believe. It would mean that Apple is going back on its word that the iPad is the right size. Today Digitimes somewhat confirms this with a new rumor: Instead of the 7.85-inch iPad, Apple will supposedly be bringing two new Retina-style iPads to the market to fill in the mid- and high-end market segments, while the current iPad 2 hangs around to take on the Kindle Fire.

NFL: Cam Newton Blames Vince Young & JaMarcus Russell For [Black] QB Stereotyping

Because Cam Newton has set the NFL on fire this season, it seems silly to think back to when scouts and experts wouldn?t go near the Panthers rookie quarterback?s bandwagon.?Blaine Gabbert?more worthy of the No. 1 overall pick? That?s downright laughable now. ?Find out why Cam feels he was unjustly stereotyped after the jump.

@Shay_Marie x @gametimegirl

Some of Newton?s critics were so harsh that his mentor, Hall of Fame quarterback Warren Moon,?believed their reviews were racially charged. Newton wouldn?t play up the race card in?an interview for next month?s issue of ESPN The Magazine, instead pointing to people?s bias because of past failed high-pick QBs ? although there is a catch to what he says.

?I can?t sit up here and look at it like, ?Oh man, my critics are racist,?? Newton said. ?I blame JaMarcus Russell and to some degree?Vince Young. If you have the opportunity to make that kind of money doing something you love to do, why would you screw it up? I?m trying to be a trailblazer. If Baylor?s Robert Griffin decides to come out, I want people to say ?He can be the next Cam Newton? instead of ?He?s going to be the next JaMarcus Russell.??

Now, about the catch, Newton specifically blames two black quarterbacks for his being disrespected, so maybe the criticism was?racial?but no so much?racist?(there is a difference)?

Anyhow, Newton had much more to say about his critics, specifically how he was in disbelief when, all of a sudden, they wanted to do interviews after he became the first player in NFL history to open his career with back-to-back 400-yard passing games.

?I had people who can?t throw a football telling me my mechanics were wrong,? Newton said. ?I had people taking shots at my character, classifying me as a thug, as a hoodlum. After Week 3 or 4, all these same people wanted an interview. I said, ?You were giving me all this crap and had so much to say about how I was going to play, and now you want to talk? No. Just sit back and watch the show, man.? ?

It?s been pretty impressive, too. Newton already has eclipsedPeyton Manning?in passing yards for a rookie record 3,893, while scoring 34 total touchdowns (20 passing, 14 rushing). Eagles quarterback?Michael Vick?recently said?Newton will revolutionize the game, and that?s exactly what Newton is striving for.

?Gone are the days of the drop-back quarterback who can only throw the ball,? Newton said. ?You know the new iPhone? It?s faster, more powerful and smarter. It?s revolutionary. Why can?t the quarterback be like that? Why can?t you be a big, tall, fast, quick, strong, smart, mobile quarterback who?s unstoppable??

automotive lost arts?: Grassroots Motorsports forum: Grassroots ...

I was looking at distributor timing videos on youtube and it got me thinking. With cars becoming more and more electronically controlled, there are many pieces of old technology that are becoming forgotten, even if they are in use every day.

Back before hunter racks, alignments were done with string, rulers, tape measures, and degreed rotary plates.

What are some other 'lost arts' in the automotive world?

Will Apple Launch a 37-inch iTV This Summer?

< Online Sales Climb 16% on Christmas Day;...
Microsoft Canada To Jumpstart Windows... >

The release of the iPhone 4S in October ground the iPhone rumour mills to a halt. But just as quickly as those rumours died, "iTV" rumours sprouted up and grew like a magic beanstalk.

Spurred by Walter Isaacson's biography of Steve Jobs?in which Walter quotes the late Apple visionary as saying he's "finally cracked" the key to making a great television?everyone and their dog has been speculating on the idea. Just a few months ago, it was a matter of "if." Now it has decidedly become a matter of "when," despite no official announcements from Apple.

The DigiTimes reports that Apple suppliers plan to start preparing materials for an iTV in the first quarter of 2012, citing "industry sources." With that in mind, the report suggests a summer launch. Sharp is expected to make the displays while Samsung is anticipated to produce the chips. It is believed that Apple will only a launch a couple of sizes initially, most likely in the 32- to 32-inch range.

But others say that instead of an iTV, Apple will continue to improve its Apple TV set-top box, possibly even making it free or at least a loss-leader in order to gain marketshare. It would reclaim lost revenue through its content sales and rentals, akin to the PlayStation 3's business model.

Samsung Galaxy S and Galaxy Tab Might Get Ice Cream Sandwich After All

Last week, Samsung released its list of devices that would be getting Android 4.0 (Ice Cream Sandwich). Curiously, the Galaxy S and 7-inch Galaxy Tab were missing from the roster, to which Samsung made a separate statement that the two devices did not have enough memory to run the new OS and Samsung?s custom TouchWiz UI.

Now it seems Samsung is backpedaling on their earlier decision, if reports that the company is reconsidering the possibility of an upgrade in internal discussions are to be believed. There is no official confirmation other than hearsay, but the running theory is it might have to do with some 10 million disappointed Galaxy S users.

Samsung originally said that the Galaxy S and 7-inch Galaxy Tab would not be able to run ICS, TouchWiz, and other "experience-enhancing" software concurrently due to a lack of RAM and ROM. While the Galaxy S and ICS-toting Galaxy Nexus have the same 1GHz Hummingbird processor, Samsung argued that the Galaxy Nexus only needs to run a vanilla Ice Cream Sandwich.

Now it seems like Samsung?s engineers only have to adjust some numbers and priorities for memory usage, and we?ll have some official ICS for the Galaxy S and 7-inch Galaxy Tab--and if not, there?s probably some rooted build that developers are cooking up.
