HOLLYWOOD (CBSMiami) ? A critically injured Hollywood motorcycle officer is expected to be home for the holidays after suffering a traumatic brain injury.
?Armando is a very fortunate gentleman he had a severe traumatic brain injury that left him with the inability to do most things we all take for granted?, said Dr. Alan Novick from Memorial Regional Hospital.
Officer Silva has had to re-learn everything he did on a daily basis, but this strong willed husband and father of two is taking tremendous strides in his road to recovery.? ?It?s wonderful it?s amazing every time I see him I can?t believe it he is so strong he is a very strong man? , said Robin Silva, his wife of ten years.
Officer Silva?s life took a tragic turn on October 29th. According to investigators, he was trying to pull over two motorcyclists outside Memorial Regional Hospital and Joe DiMaggio Children?s Hospital when he crashed, suffering a severe brain injury. Silva was found unconscious but still breathing when he was taken to the emergency room at Memorial Regional.
?Nothing compares you for that call and when I saw my husband his head was swollen and he had all these tubes it was devastating to me it changed my life?? said Robin Silva.
The Hollywood officer was not giving up on his family with much determination, hard work and a team of therapists at Memorial Regional Hospital?s Rehabilitation Institution of South Florida Silva is back on his feet and home with his family for the holidays.? It is the greatest gift his family will receive.
His wife Robin told CBS 4?s Marybel Rodriguez she looks forward to taking their dog for walks, going to the stores, having him do homework with their kids eventually and see him progress.
